Our process
I refer to the therapeutic process as ‘our process’ because therapy is a collaborative effort. While I bring my expertise as a psychologist, you are the expert on your own life. Together, we work as a team to understand and navigate your unique experiences.
How we start
Creating a safe and trusting environment is crucial for effective therapy. It’s natural to want to ensure there’s a good fit before you share your most vulnerable self. To help you feel confident in your choice, I offer a free 15-minute introductory session. This session allows us to discuss your situation, your needs, and to see if we are comfortable working together. I will share my initial impressions and outline what our work might involve if we decide to move forward together.

Step by step
1. Introductory session (15 minutes)
The first step is to book a free introductory session.
Desired outcome
We briefly find out whether or not we’re a match and decide on the next steps.
2. Intake
Once we decide to collaborate, we will have an intake session. The goal of the intake is to establish rapport, gather information, and determine the best way forward. We will talk about your reason for seeking help, your background, your therapy goals, and have an initial assessment.
Desired outcome
After the intake, we will have a shared understanding of your concerns, strengths, and needs. We discuss a focused and personalised plan that outlines the next steps, whether that involves therapy, assessment, or something else, so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.
3. Initial Sessions
You have the agency over our process. In subsequent sessions, we delve into the underlying causes of the challenges you face. We aim to gain insight into certain patterns and triggers.
Desired outcome
This phase focuses on gaining insight into your patterns, triggers, and the contexts in which they arise. These understandings form the foundation for meaningful change and guide us in choosing the most supportive and effective therapeutic approach for you.
4. Continuing the Process
Throughout therapy, we regularly reflect on your progress and adjust the approach as needed. This ensures that our work remains aligned with your goals and continues to meet your evolving needs.
When does therapy conclude?
Therapy concludes when you feel confident in your ability to apply what you’ve learned independently. The goal is not to never face challenges again, but rather to feel equipped with the insights and skills needed for lasting positive change.
