Expat Services

Brief Description

Psychological counselling tailored to supporting expats in navigating the unique challenges of living abroad.

Welcome!

Hi, this is Sanne! If this is your first time visiting my page, check out my home page to learn more about my approach and background.

About this service

Moving to a new country brings exciting opportunities, but also challenges that can affect your mental health and well-being. Expat life often means adapting to different cultures, building new social networks, and managing practical and emotional transitions. This counselling service is designed to support you through these changes with understanding and tailored strategies.

I offer psychological counselling specifically for expats who may be experiencing stress, loneliness, identity shifts, cultural adjustment difficulties, or other emotional challenges related to living abroad. My approach is holistic and flexible, drawing from evidence-based therapies to meet your individual needs and circumstances.

Whether you’re struggling with anxiety, mood concerns, or simply want to process the experience of living in a new culture, I’m here to support you.

Who can benefit

This service is for adolescents or adult expats living in Switzerland or elsewhere who want online, accessible psychological support. You might be feeling isolated, overwhelmed by cultural differences, or finding it hard to balance your old and new life. It’s also suitable for those experiencing work stress, relationship challenges, or difficulties related to family changes abroad.

No matter where you are in your expat journey, whether you’ve just arrived or have been abroad for years, you’re welcome here.

How it works

We start with an intake session where we explore what your current situation is, what you’re struggling with and what your goals for therapy are. Counselling sessions take place online, allowing for flexible scheduling and easy access from wherever you are.

Sessions usually last 50 minutes and can be scheduled weekly or as needed. I tailor each session to your current concerns and goals, using approaches such as CBT, ACT, and holistic techniques to help you build resilience, manage stress, and find balance.

The process is collaborative and transparent, with a focus on practical tools and self-understanding.

What to expect

Many expats find that counselling helps them feel less alone and better equipped to handle the ups and downs of living abroad. Over time, you may notice improved mood, reduced anxiety, clearer decision-making, and stronger connections, both with yourself and others.

Between sessions, you’re encouraged to practice skills and reflect on your experiences, but always at a pace that feels manageable.
